My Journey Into Teaching

So, as you all know and probably have felt, this “world drama” has hit all of us in one way or another, and for me, it was a straight hit to the wallet.

I must say I am not always the most positive person, but, somehow I do believe in energy and in moving the right wheels for the universe to throw you the life lines.

Educational, cultural and adventure tourism is my goal, but, for now, the universe wants me to teach spanish and make it an experience.

How did it happen?

Basically, one day, one of my students with whom was just a new friend shared with me how frustrated she was with her spanish teacher, and so I told her: “Look, I need income but I do not want to look for a job. Maybe, I can use this as an opportunity to start opening a path for me. Do you want to give it a try?”

And so, she did.

It has been only 3 months that I started and I have now 7 students and they are happy!

They all keep recommending my classes and we even go out as friends.

How do I do it?

Well, I adapt.

I firstly tell all of them that I AM NOT A TEACHER.

I tell them expactly who I am and what is my background.

I tell them I have done research in how to teach, and, if they are ok with me not being able to explain much of the grammar, then I can offer them a great conversational experience.

I work hard in finding out new ways to make them speak even if its not “that correct”.

Because, let’s be honest.

Spanish is HARD!

The class is super fun and entertaining because everything that we do relates to their personal life and their every day routine.

The class has helped MANY of them become more confident and simply relax.

And, an added bonus that I am able to share with them a great deal of information about mexican culture, economics, politics and more.

With me the students don’t only learn spanish. With me, the students will be able to understand Mexico through our language.

Where am I teaching?

My base is in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

I am able to teach classes on line, but, I do give in person classes.

I go every day to PIK NIK Mexican restaurant. It is a semi open space and it offers us a pretty comfortable space.

So, now you know.

Teaching my language has become my income and my survival mode during the pandemic.

But, believe me, it has open for me a world of ideas to share Mexico 4Real.

Call me or write to me for more info.

Soon!
